 Abstract:  Paul Gebhart was the art director for Stouffer Foods in Cleveland, Ohio, and an active member and long-time secretary of the Cleveland Society of Artists, which was founded in 1913 as the successor to the Arts Club and was disbanded in 1983. Gebhart was associated with the art department of Stouffer Foods from at least 1943 to 1960 and, as art director, supervised the art work for menus and other publications. The collection consists of administrative materials for the Cleveland Society of Artists; also menus and advertisements for Stouffer Foods, and miscellaneous advertisements, some signed by Gebhart.

 Abstract:  The Cleveland Society of Artists was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in March 1913 by George Adomeit and Charles Shackelton. A conservative rival of the flamboyant Kokoon Arts Club, the Cleveland Society of Artists formed a connection point between Cleveland artists and supporters, both professional and amateur. Sketching and painting classes were held for members and prominent speakers were often engaged for meetings. The Society also distributed a monthly newsletter. A scholarship fund was established by the Society before it disbanded in the early 1980s. The collection consists of financial documents, internal correspondence, invitations, legal documents, rosters, and issues of the Silhouette newsletter.
